Ok, so there are 7249573495804567 of these tutorials on Pinterest. BUT I really wanted to skip the whole bleaching the trees so they will take on any color. Don’t get me wrong, it’s brilliant and very budget friendly, Mama just don’t have time for that! I like this tutorial from Your Homebased Mom. If you have the time and patience, by all means, have at it!
I found these bleached out trees from Tim Holtz at Michael’s and a little light bulb lit up inside my head. Let’s color these trees!!
A few other things you will need…I used Rit liquid fabric dye to color my trees. Also gather up any items you might want to decorate your trees with when finished and dried.
I happened to already have these awesome colors in my craftin stash. I used Mason jars for dying. I filled them with tap water and added a cap of color to each jar. I dipped the entire tree into the dye and then placed them upside down in mason jars to drain and dry. Sorry, no progress photos! I know, I’m slacking.
Oh my gosh. Pink bottle brush trees.
Get yourself one of these cute vintage cardboard houses too. They go perfectly with these trees.
I double dipped some of my trees to get some great color combos!
Heat up your hot glue gun and get some beads and pipe cleaners….trim your trees!
To get the “snow” on your trees pick yourself up a bottle of Snow-Tex. You can just dab it on as much or as little as you like. I painted some of the wooden bases and left some of them as is.
My trees and houses are displayed on my mantle. They are kinda my favorite. Happy tree dying y’all!
